We’re spotlighting our final grant recipient of 2012 – Hayes Center Elementary School!
Hayes Center will use the $5,000 grant to support the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, which will help the district meet its goal to improve reading fluency and comprehension at the school.
The AR program is a computer based system that incorporates new technology, including iPads, which allows students to learn at their own pace. In total, 15 iPads will be used for AR testing, which syncs results to Websis, the school’s student information system. The program also allows parents to monitor their child’s progress from home.
The school has made the new iPad project a key part of its initiative to raise test scores, particularly in the area of math, science, reading and writing. The focus will help the school to meet its School Improvement Plan Goals and state requirements for student achievement.
It’s never too early to start thinking about next year! If your school has a great idea for the 2013 school year, make sure to apply!
