Did you know that you may be able to get help paying for your landline phone? The Nebraska Telephone Assistance Program can help to significantly reduce the costs of your monthly bill.
If you participate in any of the following government programs: Medicaid, Food Stamps, Federal Housing Assistance, Low Income Energy Assistance, or Food Stamps, then you may qualify. Those who are on a fixed income may also qualify even if they live in a nursing home or other cooperative arrangement.
Those who live on Tribal lands are eligible to receive many additional benefits through the FCC’s Lifeline including, but not limited to, landline telephone assistance. Eligible residents of Tribal land include those who participate in Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TTANF), or Head Start (those meeting its income qualifying standard). You can find more information on the Tribal Lifeline Program at https://transition.fcc.gov/indians/financialassistance.html.
Eligible telephone lines can receive service for as little as $1 per month. Link-Up, a program to help with set-up fees, provides customers with additional discounts. With a maximum $30 discount, users could save up to 50% on their first bill. For example, a $70 installation fee would cost an eligible subscriber $40.
