One of the programs that we are most proud of is our “Commitment to the Schools” grant program.  Each year, we give approximately $25,000 away to schools in our communities across the State of Nebraska.

One such school is Cedar Rapids Public School, which received a $4,000 grant from us. The school is hoping to increase academic achievement in math and language skills through the use of new technology.

The funds will be used to purchase 16 additional Acer Netbooks to support greater access to “Education City”, a web-based educational program aligned with Nebraska State Standardized tests.

Education City allows for personalized programs of study to be created for students; however computer access was affecting the school’s use of the program. The new Netbooks will allow significantly more students to benefit from the Education City program.

The school will also purchase new headphones and four Apple Wireless Airports to provide better wireless connections for students.

We can’t wait to see what the students do with their new Netbooks and we look forward to finding out! If you’re a parent, grandparent or student who has a great school story for us, please feel free to leave a comment!
