Nebraska and Indiana State College System Scholarships

It’s our commitment to empower and improve education in the communities we serve. We’re proud to offer college scholarships for Nebraska and Indiana residents graduating high school. Annual grant opportunities are also available for educators. Teachers use these grants to improve curriculum and offer new classroom programs.

Great Plains Communications Scholarship

Are you a graduating senior and a customer of GPC? If so, you are eligible to apply for the Great Plains Communications Scholarship! We grant up to 21 scholarships to seniors in Nebraska and Indiana, with amounts ranging from $1000 to $5000. Scholarships are awarded on a one-time basis.

Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship Fund

The Foundation for Rural Service is an affiliate of the National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA). The NTCA is an organization of independent telephone companies across the United States.

You’re encouraged to apply if you:

  • Are a graduating high school senior
  • Maintain a grade point average of C or higher
  • Have an interest in returning to a rural community post-graduation

To apply:

  • Visit your school’s guidance counselor for FRS application materials
  • Visit the FRS website to complete and submit your application by Feb. 14, 2025

Great Plains Communications Grants Program

We grant multiple scholarships statewide before the end of each school year and award them on a one-time basis. Together we can improve the educational process and provide resources to add new units and projects into the curriculum. Grants are awarded in spring for use during the following school year.

A maximum of $5,000.00 per district is imposed.

 Outstanding Teacher Award

Each year, Great Plains Communications honors one exceptional educator in both Indiana and Nebraska as our GPC Outstanding Teacher. Winners receive a $5000 cash prize and commemorative plaque.  For over thirty years, this award has recognized teachers who significantly impact their schools and students.

Nominations must be submitted by school superintendent, principal or guidance counselor.
