November 1st kicked-off our “Support the Troops” program for 2011. The program provides Great Plains Communications’ customers with free shipping for an approved United States Postal Service “goodie” box to a family member serving overseas.
Each year, we get a fair amount of questions about the program. Here are answers to a few FAQ’s.
Q. My group wants to send multiple boxes; can we get more than one shipping label?
A: In order to accommodate as many requests from individual customers as possible, each Great Plains Communications account is eligible to receive one free shipping label. We do not provide bulk labels through this program.
Q: Do you offer this program year-round?
A: While we support our communities a variety of ways throughout the year, the “Support the Troops” program runs from November 1st through December 31st.
Q: How big is the approved box?
A: It is a 12 in. x 12 in. x 6 in. flat rate box.
Q: How do you verify that the package is actually going to a serviceman overseas?
A: Using a military address allows us to verify that the label is being used to send a little piece of home to a troop serving overseas. Program users will be asked to submit the address when they sign-up for the program. Only APO, EPO or FPO addresses are accepted.
Q: Do I have to be a Great Plains Communications customer?
A: Yes. This program is meant to say thank you to our customers and their family members currently serving overseas during the holiday season. If you would like to find out more about becoming a Great Plains Communications customer, click here.
