Sure there are a lot (and by that we mean millions) of articles about the Super Bowl already out there. But who else is going to post from a purely Nebraskan perspective?
With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the big game
1. 31
That’s the number of Huskers currently playing in the NFL. There were 9 Nebraska Alums in the playoffs. There have been 50 Husker players in Super Bowl games with a total of 66 appearances and the Huskers have made a showing in 17 of the last 18 Championship games. Want to see even more cool stats? 2. Prince Amukamara
It’s the rare player who starts in a Super Bowl in their rookie year. Though, calling Prince Amukamara a rare player is sort of like calling last year’s “The Force” commercial, just good. During his time with the Cornhuskers, he was a first team All-American and the 2010 Big-12 Defensive Player of the Year. His highlights are too numerous to mention, but you can find the best of them here.
3. Danny Woodhead
Another rare occurrence? A player from a Division II team starting in the Super Bowl, but that’s just what Chadron State College alum Danny Woodhead will be doing on Sunday. Danny was one of the best Chadron State College has ever seen and we know the Eagles will be cheering loudly on Game Day.
