About Us
With over a century of experience, we’re a leader in providing fiber-driven services and technology solutions to enterprise, carrier and residential customers across the Midwest and beyond, powered by our growing 18,000+ mile network.
Our Story
Founded in 1910 by E.C. Hunt as a Nebraska phone company, Great Plains Communications has evolved over the past century into a telecommunications service provider, keeping pace with technology and increasing bandwidth demands to become a leading regional fiber optic network services provider.
Today, GPC is one of the largest privately owned telecommunications solution providers in the Midwest, connecting communities across Nebraska, Iowa and Southeast Indiana. Our business and enterprise services range from traditional and cloud-based voice and data products to installation and support of large networks with fully scalable managed Ethernet solutions. Using custom-built strategies and superior engineering, we meet the unique needs of wholesale and carrier customers, including regional and national carriers, LECs, ISPs, wireless carriers and other telecommunications providers. Residential services include high-speed Internet, cable TV and local and long-distance telephone services. Driving it all is an extensive 18,000+ mile, MEF-certified regional fiber-ringed network reaching 13 states – all supported by a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center.
